Southgate Names 26-Man Roster for Qatar

England manager Gareth Southgate has named his 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The squad was unveiled on Thursday afternoon and features a number of familiar faces, as well as some surprises.

The squad includes the likes of captain Harry Kane, vice-captain Jordan Henderson, and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. There are also recalls for defender Trent Alexander-Arnold and midfielder James Maddison.

Some notable omissions from the squad include Manchester United defender Harry Maguire and Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount. Maguire has been struggling with form and fitness in recent months, while Mount has been out injured since the beginning of October.

England will be hoping to improve on their performance at the 2018 World Cup, where they reached the semi-finals. They will face Iran, the United States, and Wales in Group B.
