Impressive Comeback Secures Six-Wicket Win

In a thrilling encounter at the Harare CWC Qualifier, Ireland emerged victorious over the USA in the Seventh Place Playoff Semi-Final on June 30, 2023. Chasing a target of 197, Ireland displayed impressive resilience to secure a six-wicket win with 94 balls remaining.

The USA had posted a competitive total of 196-5 in their allotted 50 overs, with Aaron Jones top-scoring with an unbeaten 57. However, Ireland's bowlers fought back admirably, with Josh Little and Mark Adair claiming two wickets each.

In response, Ireland's openers, Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie, got off to a solid start, putting on 63 runs before Balbirnie was dismissed for 32. Stirling continued to anchor the innings, scoring a well-paced 80 off 101 balls. He received valuable support from Harry Tector (30) and George Dockrell (28), as Ireland steadily chipped away at the target.
