Marcus Smart Erupts in Second Half to Spark Celtics Offense
The Boston Celtics took a commanding 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals on Friday night, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 105-98 in Game 2. Marcus Smart led the way for the Celtics with a 19-point outburst in the second half, including four three-pointers.
Jaylen Brown added 18 points for Boston, while Jayson Tatum chipped in with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Luka Doncic paced the Mavericks with 26 points, but he was held to just 11 points in the second half.
The Celtics took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Mavericks 35-18. Smart's three-pointer with 5:24 remaining in the quarter gave Boston a 10-point lead, and the Celtics never looked back.
The Mavericks will now head back to Dallas for Game 3 on Sunday night. They will need to find a way to slow down the Celtics' offense, which has been firing on all cylinders in the first two games of the series.
